Ornament contest will decide parade Grand Marshal

BROWNSBURG — Children ages 6 to 12 will have an opportunity to become this year’s Junior Grand Marshal of the Christmas Under the Stars parade and festivities on Dec. 1 in Brownsburg.

The Brownsburg Public Library and the Brownsburg Parks Department will host ornament decorating workshops from noon to 2 p.m. Nov. 10 and from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 13 at the library.

The free workshops will allow children to create their own ornament, which will then be displayed at the library. People in the community can then see all of the ornaments and vote for their favorite up until Nov. 25.

Voting will run during the library’s normal business hours of 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays.

The creator of the winning ornament will be the junior grand marshal of the parade and assist with lighting the town’s Christmas tree.

The Christmas Under the Stars parade, sponsored by Kroger, Gardis and Regas, LLP Attorneys, begins at 6 p.m. Dec. 1 at Brown Elementary School and ends at Arbuckle Acres Park. A celebration at Town Hall will follow the parade, including the lighting of the Christmas Tree and Town Hall and photos with Santa Claus.

Anyone interested in being a part of the Christmas Under the Stars parade can find more information, including how to register a parade unit or float, online at www.brownsburgparks.com or by calling Brownsburg Parks at 858-4172.
