INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department detectives are working a death investigation in connection with human remains found Wednesday in the Abney Lake Apartments on the northwest side.
A missing persons detective was summoned to the apartments around 8 p.m. as someone had reported an odor coming from a location that had burned about a month earlier.
When the detective entered, she found human remains and the homicide unit was brought in to work the scene.
As of press time, there had not been a connection made with the remains found and the earlier fire, which took place Aug. 4.
An autopsy will be performed later today to determine the victim’s identity and cause of death.
Anyone with information is asked to call IMPD homicide at 327-3475 or Crime Stoppers at 262-8477, or text INDYCS plus tip information to 247627.
