IMPD investigating murder

Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched to the 5000 block of Wicks Drive on a report of an unresponsive person shortly before 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Upon arrival, they found 28-year-old David McMiller of Indianapolis unresponsive inside his apartment. EMS crews arrived and pronounced him dead.

Investigators believe McMiller may have been shot or stabbed, but will await the results of a planned autopsy  today by the Marion County Coroner’s office before announcing a cause of death.

Police say it appears there was a fierce struggle in the apartment and they believe it was witnessed by three small children.

The children were not harmed, and they have been placed in the custody of Child Protective Services.

No one has been arrested at this time and authorities urge anyone with information to call 327-3475 or Crime Stoppers at 262-8477. Callers may also text “INDYCS” plus tip information to 274627.
