MHAHC prepares for Laughing for the Health of It!

AVON — Mental Health America Hendricks County looks for ways to help keep residents on track with good mental health. The staff is preparing for a new fundraiser called, “Laughing for the Health of it!”

Tammi Jessup serves as the executive director for the non-profit organization based in Avon. The organization offers a variety of educational classes to adults and children. They also assist the community with information and referrals, provide suicide prevention training, host a variety of support groups, and offer a holiday program providing gifts to those who would otherwise be forgotten.

MHAHC also offers a Youth Advisory Board, whose main focus is on teen suicide prevention.

This spring, MHAHC will host a new fundraiser called, “Laughing for the Health of It!” It’s 6-9 p.m. April 20 at the Avon-Washington Township Pavilion.

The dinner will be catered by Stone Creek Catering.

“Then we will have a comedy show with at least three comedians who have agreed to perform,” Jessup said. “We will have one headliner and a few open acts.”

There will also be a silent auction.

“The funds raised will go to our general operating funds,” she said. “It will also go to fund our programs. It should be a very fun night.”

There are still sponsorship opportunities available for this event. Silent auction items are also needed.

The Mental Health America Hendricks County office is at 75 Queensway Drive, Suite A, in Avon. For more information, call 272-0027.
