LIZTON — The Hendricks County Prosecutor's office has charged Michael Jiles with murder in connection with the alleged shooting of his wife, Emily Giles on June 18.
A caller informed dispatchers of a potential shooting in the 8200 block of C.R. 400 W., where emergency crews arrived and found two people with gunshot wounds. Emily was pronounced deceased at the scene. Michael was transported to St. Vincent Medical Center in Indianapolis with what was reportedly a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the face.
At the time of the shooting, there was a child present in the home but police have stated that the child was not around the incident and never in harm’s way.
Authorities also say that no domestic violence issues had been reported to them prior to the incident, and there is a town hall meeting set to discuss domestic violence issues in relation to this tragedy on July 11 at 6:30 p.m. by the Hendricks County Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Sheltering Wings leading the meeting.
No court date has been set at this time.
