WHAT: Brides to Be Expo

The Hendricks County Flyer is continuing its tradition of helping brides and grooms plan their perfect day by once again hosting the annual Brides to Be Expo. This year’s event is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 16 at Five Star Catering at Primo West in Plainfield.
This is the seventh year for the bridal show that features free admission and more than 30 vendors from Hendricks County and surrounding communities.
The first 100 brides through the door will receive a free wedding planner.
“We will once again have the strolling fashion show by David’s Bridal and Men’s Wearhouse,” said Dave Johnson, advertising manager for the Hendricks County Flyer.
The event offers information on local vendors who specialize in weddings.
There will be door prizes and plenty of free advice, along with an opportunity to book photographers, cake designers, jewelers, caterers, musicians, venues, and more. Each vendor brings a door prize worth at least $25 to be given away.
“New this year is a flower by Queen Anne’s Lace,” Johnson said. “Each bride that registers will receive a flower with their number on it.”
There will also be a giveaway for an overnight stay and dinner at a downtown Indianapolis location.
“We are still finalizing the plans on that,” Johnson said. “It will be great for one lucky couple.
“Also new this year is a greeting by a harpist. As brides come in to register, the harpist will be performing.”
The event is put on by the Hendricks County Flyer and the Hendricks County Convention and Visitors Bureau. It is billed as a “one stop shop” for brides and grooms from in and around Hendricks County.
“It really is a lot of fun because no bride comes alone,” Johnson said. “They usually bring their mother or two or three girlfriends. Some brides can even convince the groom to come along.”
He said most brides who attend are just starting with their planning.
“I’d say 90 percent just got engaged over the holidays,” Johnson said. “But we do get a few who are in the final stages of planning and they’re just looking for a few last minute touches at the show.”
Five Star Catering at Primo West is at 2353 E. Hadley Road, Plainfield.
