BHS looking for tailgate support

BROWNSBURG — Brownsburg High School students are looking for community support in this weekend’s game against rival Avon.

BHS was named the Marsh Tailgate of the Week venue, so students will raise money by selling ribeye sandwiches donated by Marsh supermarket with the funds going to various activities for the student government.

“We have 400 ribeye sandwiches, and we’re going to sell a meal with a sandwich, bag of chips, dessert, and water for $5,” said Kyle Yeager, a senior at BHS who is trying to drum up as much community support as possible for the tailgating.

“The money will go to the cheer committee, pay for dances, and allow us to do community service outreaches,” Yeager said. “We do a thing during Christmas called Shop with a Bulldog where athletes and kids go to Walmart and go shopping for gifts.

“This is the biggest Hoosier Crossroads Conference game we have of the year, and we really want to make sure Brownsburg looks good and I think it’s something the whole town can get into. The television stations will be there and we want it to be exciting.”

The game will be broadcast as the Game of the Week on MyINDY-TV.

“This game means everything to every student at BHS and with this being the last Avon-Brownsburg game that our seniors can go to, everyone’s excited,” Yeager said. “It’s always the highlight of the year for football season. We’ve been promoting it within the school and we want to pack the house.”

The Marsh Tailgate event will be in the west parking lot behind the bleachers on the home side of the football field.
