Chamber leadership announced for 2013

The Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce has announced the newest members of its board of directors.

Joining the board are Brian Geitner, president of Dealer Services Corp.; Dr. Kathleen Lee, central Indiana chancellor of Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana; Lisa Schlehuber, president and CEO of Eli Lilly Federal Credit Union; and John Thompson, chairman and CEO of First Electric Supply, who will be the Indy Chamber board chair in 2013.

"Next year, the Indy Chamber is poised to make an even greater impact than in 2012," said Scott Miller, president and CEO of the chamber. "Our recent merger with several local economic development organizations bolsters our opportunity to improve the business climate, grow existing businesses in our region, and ultimately create new jobs. The leadership of John Thompson as chair, coupled with the breadth and depth of the experience these new individuals bring to our board will be a tremendous asset as we strive to make the Indianapolis region the best place to live and do business."

The Indy Chamber Board of Directors works alongside the president and chamber leadership to fulfill the chamber's mission to increase jobs, bring in more capital investment to communities, advocate on behalf of businesses and entrepreneurs, and grow member network in an effort to support the economic well-being of Greater Indianapolis.

The new board leadership was announced during the chamber's final board meeting of 2012. During that meeting Miller also recognized outgoing Indy Chamber board chair Steve Walker, chairman and CEO of Walker Information, Inc. Walker was presented with a gift of an Indiana Canine Assistant Network (ICAN) dog named "Walker" in his honor. ICAN's mission is to train and place assistance dogs with persons with disabilities throughout the state of Indiana. More information about ICAN is available online at www.icandog.org.
