Misty Eyes to host evening out

Misty Eyes Animal Shelter & Learning Center invites residents to "Raise the Woof" starting at 7 p.m. Nov. 3 in the International Ballroom of the Crowne Plaza Hotel near Indianapolis International Airport.

"We're billing it as an evening out," said Renee Harlor, Misty Eyes' co-founder and executive director.

Tickets are $45 each and include complimentary wine, music, a silent auction, and food by Alan's Catered Events. The wine is donated by Republic Distributing and includes selections from several wineries. There will also be a cash bar for patrons who want something other than wine.

"It's basically dinner, dancing, and mingling," Harlor said of the event.

Overnight stay packages also are available. Visit the website at MistyEyes.org/woof to register.

This is one of three major fundraisers for Misty Eyes. They hosted a jamboree this spring and are planning a winterfest in February.

"This is one of our signature events that we plan to have every year," Harlor said.

Misty Eyes, which Harlor co-founded with Cherie Fox about a year ago, is focused on making cats and dogs adoptable and finding them suitable homes. Harlor estimates they've saved 70 animals since February.

Their next step is opening a no-kill adoption center. They're getting ready to sign a lease on a building in Brownsburg, which they expect to have open in December.

"This will get us started," Harlor said. "We're still saving for a larger facility."
