Holiday trash, recycling schedule announced

The Indianapolis Department of Public Works (DPW) reminds residents that curbside recycling, residential trash pickup, and heavy trash pickup will operate on a sliding schedule for the upcoming two weeks because of the holidays.

In observance of Christmas Day, there will be no trash pick-up on Dec. 25. Beginning Dec. 26 all collections will run one day behind for the remainder of the week. Thursday routes will be collected on Friday; Friday collections will be made on Saturday. All routes will return to normal schedules on Dec. 31.

In observance of New Year's Day, there will be no trash pick-up on Jan. 1. Beginning Jan. 2, all collections will run one day behind for the remainder of the week. Thursday routes will be collected on Friday; Friday collections will be made on Saturday. All routes will return to normal schedules on Jan. 7.

As a reminder, Dec. 24 and 31 routes will not be affected by the change. Both of those days will have normal service.

For more information, call the Mayor's Action Center at 327-4MAC or visit the website at www.indy.gov/dpw.
