High school football capsules, Sept. 3

5A No. 5 Hamilton Southeastern (2-0) at 5A No. 10 Brownsburg (2-0), 7 p.m.

Last week: Four Bulldogs - Robby Robbins, Isaac Beverstock, Chase Dutra and Jordan Reagan - scored rushing touchdowns to lead Brownsburg to a 28-0 shutout of Noblesville. HSE cruised to a 40-17 victory over Fishers. The Royals have scored a combined 75 points in their first two games.

Last meeting: In week three of last season, Brownsburg took an early 13-0 lead but HSE answered with 34 straight points to claim a 41-20 win.

Brownsburg key players: QB Robby Robbins (205 passing yards, 1 TD, 132 rushing yards, 5 TD); RB Isaac Beverstock (123 rushing yards, 1 TD); WR Jordan Reagan (127 receiving yards, 1 TD).



Whiteland (1-1) at Plainfield (1-1), 7 p.m.

Last week: Plainfield remained scoreless with Pickerington Central (Ohio) for the game's first eight minutes, but the Tigers proved to be too much for the Quakers, winning 38-0. Whiteland was also blanked, falling 30-0 to Bishop Chatard.

Last meeting: A late touchdown propelled Plainfield to a 7-3 win over Whiteland in week three of last season. The Quakers have won 13 of their last 14 meetings with the Warriors.

Plainfield key players: QB Gabe Cunningham (48 passing yards, 1 INT); RB Evan Wilson (174 rushing yards, 1 TD); WR Jordan Massey (24 receiving yards).



Cascade (0-2) at 2A No. 7 North Putnam (2-0), 7 p.m.

Last week: The Cadets were shut out for the second consecutive week, falling 48-0 to West Central Conference rival Monrovia. North Putnam came away from its road opener a winner, winning 35-14 at Southmont.

Last meeting: Cascade remained within striking distance, but was unable to pull off an upset of the Cougars in a 21-7 loss in week three of last season. The Cadets last beat the Cougars in 2005.

Cascade key players: QB Colin Smith; RB Alex Arthur; WR Zach Baldwin.



Danville (1-1) at Western Boone (1-1), 7 p.m.

Last week: The Warriors faced little resistance while picking up a 44-7 victory over Sagamore Conference rival Crawfordsville. Luke Fields returned two interceptions for touchdowns in the win. Western Boone also won big, beating Class 1A Clinton Central 42-8.

Last meeting: The Stars used a late defensive stand to take a 14-6 decision in week three of last season.

Danville key players: QB Jon Pedigo (362 passing yards, 2 TD, 3 INT); RB Kyle Reeves (30 rushing yards, 1 TD); WR Howie Cupp (121 receiving yards, 1 TD).



Harrison (2-0) at Avon (1-1), 7 p.m.

Last week: Domonique Blackmon was dominant on the ground for the Orioles, amassing 312 rushing yards and five touchdowns in Avon's 51-37 win over Westfield at Lucas Oil Stadium. Harrison edged Lafayette Jeff 26-24.

Last meeting: Former Orioles running back Darren Oliver ran in a 5-yard touchdown with 47 seconds left to lift Avon to a 35-28 victory over Harrison in week three of last season. The Orioles have won their last nine meetings with the Raiders.

Avon key players: QB Logan Haston (266 passing yards, 2 TD, 2 INT); RB Domonique Blackmon (405 rushing yards, 6 TD); WR Kendall Griffin (125 receiving yards, 2 TD).



Lebanon (1-1) at Tri-West (2-0), 7 p.m.

Last week: Cody Coll rushed for 195 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Bruins to a 34-7 victory over South Putnam. Lebanon beat Leo 29-28.

Last meeting: In week three of last season, the Tigers topped the Bruins 27-0 to earn their second victory over Tri-West since 2003.

Tri-West key players: QB Austin Hendershot (176 passing yards); RB Cody Coll (301 rushing yards); WR Mitch Alexander (83 receiving yards).
