Middle School Updates

PLAINFIELD MIDDLE SCHOOL

Seventh-grade girls’ basketball

The seventh-grade girls’ basketball team recently beat Martinsville East 53-35. Kara Sumner scored a season-high 19 points.

The seventh-grade girls’ basketball team recently beat Clark Pleasant 45-14. Leading scorers for the team were Kayla Benge and Samantha Olinger with 11 points each.

Eighth-grade girls’ basketball

The eighth-grade girls’ basketball team recently beat Clark Pleasant 58-29. Blakely Shurig led all scoreres with 22 points.

Boys’ and girls’ swimming

Both the boys’ and the girls’ swimming teams defeated Paul Hadley recently. The boys won 117-66 and the girls won 129-57.

The boys swept the top three positions of the 200 free with Jackson Deal in first, Caleb Smock in second, and Joe Copeland in third. They also swept the first three spots in the 100 backstroke with Chaz Rhodes placing first, Sean Rogers finishing second, and Sam Tackett placing third.

Other first-place finishers for the Quakers were Joe Klinger and Bradley Byford in diving.

The girls picked up 1-2-3 sweeps in the 200 and 400 frees and the 100 breast. In the 200 free, Kamryn VanWanzeele placed first, Abby Moyers finished second, and Bianca Gomez took third. In the 400 free, Rachel Graves finished first, Kaitlyn Ross placed second, and Moyers came in third.

In the 100 breast, Ashley Snoke placed first, Allyson Carroll came in second, and Natalie Gulley was third.

Other individual winners included VanWanzeele, Carroll, Snoke, and Kristina Zick in diving.

Wrestling

The Warriors recently defeated Brownsburg West 71-27. Winning by pin were Asa Garcia, Trizton Carson, Bryce King, Dylan Plant, Jesse Vondersaar, and Joey Lombardo. Winning by decision were Cameron Shearin, Lawrence Utley, Solomon Dial, Caden Hubner, and Thomas Long. Winning by forfeit were Ty Mills, Jace Heitkamp, and Luke Pence.

The Warriors recently defeated South Putnam 82-18. Winning by pin were Ty Mills, Brandon Stultz, Jace Heitkamp, and Dylan Plant. Winning by decision were Lawrence Utley, Solomon Dial, Mason Noe, Caden Hubner, Bryce King, Thomas Long, and Nik Johnson. Winning by forfeit were Cameron Shearin, Asa Garcia, Trizton Carson, Dylan Herald, Jesse Vondersaar, and Joey Lombardo.

The Warriors recently defeated Cascade 102-12. Winning by pin were Lawrence Utley, Ty Mills, Solomon Dial, Mason Noe, Brandon Stultz, Jace Heitkamp, Dylan Plant, Jesse Vondersaar, and Luke Pence. Winning by decision were Camreon Shearin and Asa Garcia. Winning by forfeit were Trizton Carson, Caden Hubner, Bryce King, Dylan Herald, Thomas Long, and Nik Johnson.

Winning by decision were Caden Hubner, Dylan Herald, Jesse Vondersaar, and Joey Lombardo. Winning by forfeit were Cameron Shearin, Trizton Carson, Jace Heitkamp, Thomas Long, and Dylan Plant.

The Warriors recently defeated Monrovia 47-39. Winning by pin were Ty Mills, Jace Heitkamp, and Caden Hubner. Winning by decision were Brandon Stultz and Joey Lombardo. Winning by forfeit were Cameron Shearin, Asa Garcia, Bryce King, Dylan Hearald, Thomas Long, and Dylan Plant.

The Warriors recently lost to Brownsburg East 81-35. Winning by pin were Asa Garcia, Trizton Carson, Jace Heitkamp, Bryce King, Thomas Long, and Jesse Vondersaar. Winning by decision were Cameron Shearin and Ty Mills.

Winning by pin were Asa Garcia, Ty Mills, Solomon Dial, Brandon Stultz, Jace Heitkamp, Trizton Carson, Bryce King, Dylan Herald, Dylan Plant, Jesse Vondersaar, and Luke Pence. Winning by forfeit were Cameron Shearin, Nik Johnson, and Nick Buchanan. Winning by decision were Trizton Carson and Caden Hubner.

The Warriors recently defeated Southmont 55-48. Winning by pin were Lawrence Utley, Ty Mills, Jace Heitkamp, and Jesse Vondersaar. Winning by forfeit were Cameron Shearin, Zach Whitcomb, and Bryce King. Winning by decision were Solomon Dial, Trizton Carson, Caden Hubner, and Nik Johnson.

The seventh-grade Warriors girls’ basketball team recently lost to Brownsburg East 14-13. Scoring for Danville were Addie Collier and Brandi Wasson with four points each, Hannah Deno and Jenna Lucas each with two, and Tori Leistner with one point. 

The seventh-grade Warrior girls’ basketball team recently defeated Western Boone 33-18. Scoring for Danville were Addie Collier with 11 points, Hannah Deno with seven, Baylee Muse with five, Anna Easlick with four, and Kayla Ross, Ali Means, and Rilee Mood with two points each.

The seventh-grade Warrior girls’ basketball team recently defeated North Putnam 38-11. Scoring for Danville were Addie Collier with 10 points, Rilee Mood with eight, Hannah Deno with six, Jenna Lucas with five, Brandi Wason with three, Mallory Barnhart, Ashlyn Schafer, Baylee Muse, and Jenna Sullivan with two points each.

The eighth-grade Warrior girls’ basketball team recently lost to Brownsburg East 35-24. Scoring for Danville were Cassie Utley with seven points, Baylee Muncy with six, Katy Skinner with four, and Emma Dwyer, Sydney Baker, and Lizzie Smith with two each.

The eighth-grade Warrior girls’ basketball team recently lost to Western Boone 36-32. Scoring for Danville were Cassie Utley with 10 points, Sydney Baker with nine, Katy Skinner with six, Baylee Muncy with three, and Emma Dwyer and Lizzie Smith with two each.

The eighth-grade Warrior girls’ basketball team recently defeated North Putnam 37-15. Scoring for Danville were Katy Skinner with 14 points, Baylee Muncy with five, Emma Dwyer, Cassie Utley, and Kasey Newby with four each, and Sydney Baker, Sara Miller and Kasey Crane with two each.

Girls’ swimming

The Warrior girls’ swim team recently defeated Northridge 94-88. Placing for Danville were Brenna Shelley with a win and three second-place finishes; Grace Austin with three firsts and a third; Kacey Cook and Abri DeAtley each with three wins and a second place; Kyra Shelley with a first and three seconds; Halle Higbie with a second and a third; Laney Gilbert with three third-place finishes; and Lauren Basicker, Megan McAdams, Becca Weiss, Katelin Johnson and Shelby McDaniels each with third-place finishes.

AVON MIDDLE SCHOOL SOUTH

Seventh-grade girls’ basketball

The seventh-grade Lady Orioles lost against Cascade 43-24. Avon South was led by Caroline Yoder with 12 points. Lucia Grill and Mikayla Rodriguez each added four points.

The seventh-grade Lady Orioles recently lost 22-16 to Zionsville West. Katie Thompson contributed eight points and 13 rebounds. Lucia Grill added four points and Caroline Yoder and Mikayla Rodriguez added eight rebounds each.

Eighth-grade girls’ basketball

The eighth-grade Lady Orioles recently beat Cascade 38-34. Katrinia Hopkins led all scorers with 15 points and Halie Price added seven points.

The eighth-grade Lady Orioles recently defeated Zionsville West 28-23. Katrina Hopkins led the scoring with 13 points, Sam Selge had five, and Stacie Shelton added four points.

Wrestling

The Avon South wrestling team recently went 1-2 at the Lynhurst Invitational. They defeated Noblesville 66-24 and lost to Carmel Creekside 60-42 and Lynhurst 54-49. James Betzold and Andrew Frank each won one match on the day. Winning two matches were Wil Shriner, Avery Cochran, Kam Caudle, Jacob Clark, Nick Price, and Christian Schabel. Going undefeated on the day, with three victories, were Caleb Alvarez, Aaron Conde, Spencer Strobel, Drew Williamson, and Nick Rapp.
