Youth Sports Updates

Danville Community Middle School

 

Swimming

The Warrior boys’ swim team recently lost to Cascade 110-73. Taking first-place victories for the Warriors were William Nuss with three, Jack Clark with two, and Andrew Barrows and Jesse Cox with one each. Cox, Clark, and Barrows each finished second twice. William Nuss, Dylan Porter, Keegan O’Brien, and Steve Taylor all finished second once. Placing third was Dylan Porter, Steve Taylor, Barrows, and Cox, all with one.

 

The Warrior girls’ swim team lost to Cascade 93-86. Taking first-place victories for Danville were Abri DeAtley with three, Kyra Shelley and Brenna Shelley with two each, and Grace Austin, Becca Weiss, Halle Higbie, and Meredith Perry with one each. Placing second was Weiss, K. Shelley, and Austin with two each, B. Shelley, Megan McAdams, Meredith Perry, and Abri DeAtley, all with one. Placing third was Austin, Higbie with two, and McAdams with one.

 

Basketball

The seventh-grade Warrior girls’ basketball team recently defeated Southmont 44-12. Addie Collier scored a team-high 24 points. Jenna Lucas, Hannah Deno, and Brandi Wasson each added six a piece. Baylee Muse added two points.

 

The seventh-grade Warrior girls’ basketball team recently defeated Northridge 35-16. Addie Collier scored 16 points, Brandi Wasson added seven points, Jenna Lucas scored five points, Baylee Muse contributed four points, Hannah Deno added two points, and Anna Easlick registered a point.

 

The eighth-grade Warrior girls’ basketball team recently defeated Northridge 35-11. Baylee Muncy, Cassie Utley, and Kasey Newby each scored six points, Lizzie Smith added five points, Katie Skinner poured in four points, Sydney Baker, Ella Davis, Sara Miller, and Kasey Crane scored two points apiece.

 

The eighth-grade Warrior girls’ basketball team recently defeated Southmont 33-21. Baylee Muncy scored nine points, Emma Dwyer added eight points, Cassie Utley contributed six points, Katie Skinner and Lizzie Smith scored three each, Sydney Baker and Ella Davis added two points each.

 

Wrestling

The Warriors recently defeated Tri-West 59-42. Winning by pins were Ty Mills, Carson Waddell, Caden Hubner, and Bryce King. Winning by decisions were Thomas Long and Nik Johnson. Winning by a major decision was Asa Garcia. Winning by a forfeit was Mason Noe, Jace Heitkamp, Cameron Shearin, and Brandon Stultz.

 

The Warriors recently lost to Lebanon 79-42. Winning by pins were Ty Mills, Jace Heitkamp, Caden Hubner, Bryce King, and Jesse Vondersaar. Winning by decisions were Asa Garcia and Thomas Long.

 

 

 

Plainfield Community Middle School

 

Seventh-grade girls’ basketball

The seventh-grade basketball team recently defeated Brownsburg West with a score of 31-23.  Samantha Olinger and Indy Peters each scored eight points.

The seventh-grade basketball team recently beat Greenwood 33-11. Samantha Olinger led the team with 11 points.

 

Eighth-grade girls’ basketball

The eighth-grade girls recently beat Brownsburg West 50-15.

The eighth-grade girls recently beat Greenwood 50-25.

 

Swimming

The co-ed Quaker swimming and diving teams recently beat Beech Grove. The boys beat the Hornets 129-51 and the girls took first with a 141-45 win.

The boys’ team swept the 200 and 400 freestyle with Jackson Deal, Curtis Cloud, Barrett Noggle, and Caleb Smock posting the wins. Chaz Rhodes earned first in the 100 back and 100 free. Logan Andre won the breaststroke. Other boys’ wins of the night came from Joe Klinger, Connor Stinson, Bradley Byford, Weston Whyde, and Derek Wright.

First-place wins on the girls’ team were posted by Kamryn VanWanzeele, Riley Lautenschlager, Leah Wurtzel, Ashley Snoke, Bianca Gomez, Rachel Graves, Rachel Jones, and Allyson Carroll. Alyssa Laser and Kaitlyn Ross contributed to first-place relay finishes and posted strong second-place wins in their individual events.

Seventh-grade girls’ basketball

The seventh-grade girls’ basketball team recently lost 37-11 to Paul Hadley.

 

Eighth-grade girls’ basketball

The eighth-grade girls’ basketball team recently lost 38-19 to Paul Hadley.

 

Wrestling

The Avon Middle School South wrestling team recently beat Plainfield Middle School, 51-47. Winning for the Orioles were Connor Beswick, Camden Gongwer, Noah Driskell, Caleb Alvarez, Christian Schabel, Jacob Clark, Spencer Strobel, Andrew Frank, Nick Price, Kameron Caudle, and Drew Williamson.

 

The Avon Middle School South wrestling team recently lost to Lynhurst 62-54. The Orioles recently beat Noah Driskell, Caleb Alvarez, Aaron Conde, Christian Schabel, Jacob Clark, Spencer Strobel, Andrew Frank, Nick Price, Kameron Caudle, and Drew Williamson.

For the youthful Warriors, the contest was tough lesson. The Cadets turned on their bats and junior pitcher Kellie Mink turned up the heat on the Warriors’ hitters as the Cadets cut short Covenant’s season with a 23-0 win in five innings.
