The Brownsburg baseball team continued its dominance in the Hendricks County Tournament, winning its sixth straight title in 2009.
Brownsburg also finished as co-champions in the Hoosier Crossroads Conference (HCC) and had a 24-5 overall record.
For their accomplishments, three Bulldogs earned a spot on the Hendricks County Flyer all-county team.
Catcher Tucker Barnhart batted .380, hit six home runs, and drove in 25 runs. He had a .982 fielding percentage. Barnhart was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 10th round of the Major League Baseball Draft.
Dalton Wentz had a dominating 0.64 ERA and finished the season with a 6-0 record and seven saves. He struck out 84 batters.
Matt Duncan was also impressive on the mound for the Bulldogs, as he posted a 6-2 record and a 3.46 ERA. Duncan struck out 69 batters.
Cascade (22-5) finished the 2009 season ranked No. 3 in Class 2A and won the West Central Conference.
Corey Garriott had a .382 batting average, scored 22 runs, and recorded 23 RBI. He had a .909 fielding percentage playing second base.
Conner Guthrie had an 11-2 record on the mound, a 1.59 ERA, and struck out 123 batters.
Avon finished the season with a 14-14 record, going up against a tough schedule in the HCC.
Catcher Dalton Jones led the way for the Orioles. Jones had a .436 batting average, 27 RBI, and scored 21 runs. He also had a .953 fielding percentage.
Bethesda couldn’t match its run to semistate from a season ago, but had a winning record (14-10) in 2009.
Chase Ringler led the Patriots’ offense, batting .522 and racking up 34 RBI. Ringler also had a 5-5 record on the mound with a 3.26 ERA.
Plainfield finished the season with a 7-17 record.
Corey Cragen had a big season at the plate for the Quakers, batting .342 while scoring 23 runs and compiling 23 RBI.
With a young team, Tri-West ended the season with an 8-18 record.
Brock Sellers led the Bruins’ offensive attack with a .378 average and 21 RBI. He also had a .934 fielding percentage from the shortstop positon.
Danville closed the 2009 season with a 3-22 record.
Kyle Lawson had a team-best .387 batting average and drove in eight runs for the Warriors.
