5A No. 13 Brownsburg (1-0) at Noblesville (0-1), 7 p.m.

Last week: Brownsburg opened the season with a 56-14 blowout of McCutcheon. Quarterback Robby Robbins led the Bulldogs on the ground (123 rushing yards, 4 TD) and through the air (103 passing yards, 1 TD). Noblesville dropped a 20-3 decision to Fishers.

Last meeting: In week two of last season, Torrey Nibbs picked off a Noblesville pass in the final seconds to preserve a 21-14 Brownsburg victory at Lucas Oil Stadium. That win ended the BulldogsÕ two-game losing skid to the Millers, dating back to 2007.

Brownsburg key players: QB Robby Robbins (103 passing yards, 1 TD, 123 rushing yards, 4 TD); RB Isaac Beverstock (67 rushing yards, 1 TD); WR Jordan Reagan (67 receiving yards, 1 TD).





Tri-West (1-0) at S. Putnam (1-0), 7 p.m.



Last week: Behind four touchdowns from quarterback Austin Hendershot (two rushing, two passing) Tri-West rolled to a 35-0 season-opening victory over host Cascade. Cody Coll added 93 yards and a score on the ground for the Bruins. South Putnam also opened with a win, defeating Owen Valley 34-12.



Last meeting: In week two of last season, Eagles quarterback John Spencer hit Drew Cash for a 62-yard touchdown as time expired to lift South Putnam to a 23-20 victory. Tri-West saw its seven-game winning streak over South Putnam snapped.



Tri-West key players: QB Austin Hendershot (147 passing yards, 2 TD); RB Cody Coll (93 rushing yards, 1 TD); WR Mitch Alexander (80 receiving yards, 1 TD).





Crawfordsville (0-1) at Danville (0-1), 7 p.m.



Last week: Danville quarterback Jon Pedigo threw for 237 yards and a touchdown, but the Warriors fell 14-7 to county rival Plainfield. A Quaker interception killed DanvilleÕs potential game-tying drive in the final seconds. Crawfordsville lost to West Lafayette, 42-2.



Last meeting: Danville won 13-0 at Crawfordsville in week two of last season. The Warriors have won four of their last five meetings with the Athenians.



Danville key players: QB Jon Pedigo (237 passing yards, 1 TD, 2 INT); RB Nick Thurston (26 rushing yards); WR Howie Cupp (121 receiving yards, 1 TD).





Cascade (0-1) at 2A No. 13 Monrovia (0-1) 7 p.m. Friday

Last week: Penalties and turnovers doomed Cascade in a 35-0 loss to county rival Tri-West. Alex Arthur rushed for 83 yards in the defeat. Monrovia, a team that won 14 straight games last season before falling in the 2A state championship, opened with a 10-6 loss to Greencastle.

Last meeting: It was all Monrovia in week two of last season. The Bulldogs blew out the Cadets on the road 55-0.

Cascade key players: QB Colin Smith (45 passing yards); RB Alex Arthur (83 rushing yards); WR Zach Baldwin (43 rushing yards).

 

Plainfield (1-0) vs. Pickerington Central (Ohio) (0-0), 12 p.m. Saturday at Warren Central

Last week: Plainfield’s Garrett Goodbar intercepted a Danville pass in the final seconds to help the Quakers escape with a 14-7 victory over the Warriors. Evan Wilson racked up 140 rushing yards and a touchdown to lead Plainfield. Pickerington Central did not play last week.

Last meeting: None.

Plainfield key players: QB Gabe Cunningham (24 passing yards, 1 INT, 57 rushing yards, 1 TD); RB Evan Wilson (140 rushing yards, 1 TD); WR Jordan Massey (24 receiving yards).

 

Avon (0-1) vs. Westfield (0-1), 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Lucas Oil Stadium

Last week: The Orioles fell 35-14 to Class 5A No. 6 Hamilton Southeastern in head coach Mark Bless’ debut. Avon trailed 14-7 at halftime, but was outscored 21-7 by the Royals in the second half. Westfield fell 16-6 at Lafayette Harrison.

Last meeting: The Shamrocks snapped a nine-game losing streak to the Orioles, winning 24-13 in week two of last season.

Avon key players: QB Logan Haston (112 passing yards, 1 TD); RB Dominique Blackmon (93 rushing yards, 1 TD); WR Kendall Griffin (37 receiving yards, 1 TD).
