Avon Middle School South

 

Seventh-grade boys’ basketball

The Avon Middle School South seventh-grade boys’ basketball team recently defeated the Chapel Hill Giants 37-32. The Orioles went 7 for 10 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.

The seventh-grade boys’ basketball team recently defeated the Cascade Cadets 42-40 in overtime.

The seventh-grade boys’ basketball team recently participated in the 26th annual Black and Gold Tournament at Noblesville Middle School. In the first game, the Orioles were defeated in overtime 32-29 to Noblesville East Middle School. In the consolation game, the Orioles beat Noblesville West Middle School, 34-26.

The seventh-grade boys’ basketball team was recently defeated by Zionsville West Middle School 44-32 in the opening round of the Northwest Suburban Conference Tournament.

 

Eighth-grade boys’ basketball

The eighth-grade boys’ basketball team recently earned a 45-20 victory over Zionsville West.

The Avon eighth-grade boys’ basketball team recently lost to Chapel Hill 35-26.

The boys’ eighth-grade team recently earned a 49-20 victory over the Cascade Cadets.

 

Seventh-grade girls’ basketball 

The seventh-grade Lady Orioles recently lost to Plainfield 45-15.

 

Eighth-grade girls’ basketball

The eighth-grade girls’ basketball recently lost 38-16 to Center Grove North. Katrinia Hopkins had 10 points.

The eighth-grade Orioles recently lost to Plainfield 55-10. Sam Selge had four points and 10 rebounds.

The Avon South eighth-grade girls’ basketball team recently defeated Avon North 34-33. Katrinia Hopkins scored 16 points and Sam Selge added eight points.

 

Wrestling 

The Avon South wrestling team recently went 1-2 at the Perry Meridian Triple-Dual meet, defeating Decatur Central and narrowly losing to Center Grove North 53-49. Winning one match for the Orioles was James Betzold, Parker Kulhanic, Conner Beswick, Camdon Gongwer, and Nick Price. Winning two matches were Avery Cochran, Lance Ellington, Wil Shriner, Aaron Conde, Caleb Alvarez, Christian Schabel, and Nick Rapp. Going undefeated on the day and winning three matches were Spencer Strobel, Jacob Clark, and Drew Williamson.

The Avon South wrestling team recently lost to Zionsville West Middle School, 64-44. Winning by forfeit were James Boetzold, Drew Williamson, and Nick Rapp. Caleb Alvarez won by decision. Winning by fall were Spencer Strobel, Nick Price, Jacob Clark, and Kameron Caudle.

The Avon South wrestling team recently competed in two tough matches, defeating Zionsville Middle School, 49-42, and losing to Brownsburg East 78-49. Winning against Zionsville were James Betzold, Wil Shriner, Noah Driskell, Aaron Conde, Jacob Clark, Spencer Strobel, Nick Price, Kameron Caudle, Drew Williamson, and Nick Rapp. Winning against Brownsburg East were Wil Shriner, Noah Driskell, Aaron Conde, Jacob Clark, Spencer Strobel, Andrew Frank, and Drew Williamson.

 

Plainfield Middle School

 

Seventh-grade boys’ basketball

The seventh-grade boys recently lost 52-37 to Decatur Central.

The seventh-grade boys’ basketball team won the first round of the county tournament by beating Cascade 41-11.

The seventh-grade boys were recently defeated by Tri West 62-45 to end their season.

 

Eighth-grade boys’ basketball

The Plainfield eighth-grade boys’ basketball team recently traveled to Decatur Central and won 41-32. Leading the way for the Quakers was Daylan Nanny with 13 points and five steals, Nate Mills with 11 points and three blocks, Dawson Messer with seven points and six steals, and Hunter First contributing five points.

The eighth-grade Quaker boys’ team recently won its first round game in the Hendricks County Tournament by beating Cascade, 61-28. Leading the way for the Quakers was Nate Mills with 15 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and three blocks. Hunter First added six points and five rebounds. Tyler West added six points and three rebounds. Luke Gulley added five points and two steals. Jarrett Hufferd added five points, two rebounds, and two steals. Gavin Ritter had four points, three steals, and two assists. Daylan Nanny and Conner Brens each scored four points.

The eighth-grade Quaker boys’ team recently lost to Tri-West in the semifinals of the Hendricks County Tournament 46-27. Leading the Quakers was Daylan Nanny with eight points, Nate Mills with six points, Hunter First with five points, and Gavin Ritter adding five steals.

 

Eighth-grade girls’ basketball

The eighth-grade girls’ team recently won 37-26 against Brownsburg East. The team was led by Kayla Casteel with 16 points and Riley Blackwell with 11 points.

 

 Danville Community Middle School

 

Seventh-grade boys’ basketball

The seventh-grade Warriors recently beat Cascade 61-28. Danville was led in scoring by Austin Cowart with 19. Other scorers included Alec Burton with 10 points, Caden Thompson with seven, Nathan Pope with six, Jackson Wynn with five, Dillon Compliment and Jack Binkley with three each, and Wesley Gillespie, Jake Motter, Treyton Smith, and Dylan Snider each with two points.

The seventh-grade Warrior boys’ basketball team recently defeated Avon North 36-27 in the first round of the Hendricks County Tournament. The leading scorer for Danville was Alec Burton with 10 points.

 

Seventh grade-girls’ basketball

The seventh-grade Lady Warrior “A” team was defeated by Cascade in their season opener 38-35. Addie Collier had an outstanding performance with domination on the boards as well as scoring 15 points for the Lady Warriors.  Others scoring for Danville were Jenna Lucas with eight and Baylee Muse with six. Hannah Deno and Brandi Wasson chipped in three a piece.

The seventh-grade Warrior girls’ basketball team recently defeated Lebanon 31-25. Addie Collier scored a game-high 14 points for the Warriors. Jenna Lucas added eight points.

 

Eighth-grade boys’ basketball

The eighth-grade Danville basketball team recently knocked off the Northridge Cougars 51-37 in the opening round game of the Sagamore Conference Tourney. The Warriors were led in scoring by Alec Alderson who netted 25 and Zach Callahan who churned in 16 in the contest.

The eighth-grade Warrior boys’ basketball recently team defeated Tuttle in the semifinals of the Sagamore Conference Tournament 39-27. Scoring for Danville was Alec Alderson with 12, Zach Callahan with seven, Reece Jensen with six, Steven Guipe with five, and Tomas Amrhein with four.

The eighth-grade Warrior boys’ basketball team recently lost to an undefeated Tri-West team 53-29 in the championship game of the Sagamore Conference Tournament.

The eighth-grade Danville boys’ basketball team recently defeated Southmont 46-25. Scoring for the Warriors were Zach Callahan with 18; Alec Alderson with 12; Blake Luellen, Reece Jensen, and Riley Weston with four apiece.

The eighth-grade Warriors recently defeated Cascade 49-34. The leading scorer for Danville was Alec Alderson with 16.

The eighth-grade Warrior boys’ basketball team recently beat Avon North 43-37 in the opening round of the Hendricks County Tourney. Danville’s leading scorer was Alec Alderson with 16.

The eighth-grade Danville boys’ basketball team recently beat Brownsburg East 41-34. Leading the Warriors were Alec Alderson with 17 and Reece Jensen with 14 points.

 

Eighth-grade girls’ basketball

The eighth-grade Warrior girls’ basketball team recently defeated Tri-West 30-17. Scoring for Danville was Katie Skinner with seven, Sydney Baker with six, Baylee Muncy with five, and Kasey Newby with four.

The eighth-grade Warrior girls’ basketball team recently lost to Lebanon 36-26. Scoring for Danville was Emma Dwyer with eight and Katie Skinner, Lizzie Smith, and Cassie Utley with four each.
