Attack on new town manager unwarranted
To the Editor:
Never once have I ever felt an overwhelming urge to respond to a Letter to the Editor. Until I read the letter regarding the hiring of an applicant from Texas to fill the post of Brownsburg town manager.
That was a malicious and self-serving attempt at undermining a man’s career, not to mention what it says about making an out-of-stater AND HIS FAMILY, feel welcomed. Maybe if the writer would take the time to get to know some of the great people of this county who are transplants, he’d be a bit more tolerant.
And that writer was/is an educator? Shame on them.
As a Plainfield resident who has many acquaintances in Brownsburg, my best bet is that the town fathers of Brownsburg did their due diligence in the search for a new town manager, and that there were a whole host of qualified applicants for such a plum position in one of the most respected small towns in Indiana. And I’m betting Mr. Chetham was the best man for the job, or he would not have been offered the position. Just a guess.
Mr. Chetham, I’d like to be among the first to welcome you to Hendricks County. You and your family will find this part of the world to be warm and friendly beyond compare. Rest assured, the original letter writer’s lack of sensitivity, tolerance, hospitality, and manners are not representative of the good people of Hendricks County.

Age is simply a matter of mind
I was sitting in a restaurant the other day — I won’t say which one, but I will say it was one of those where you get pancakes as a side dish to anything you order, including salads — when I flipped casually to the menu page for, shall we say, mature guests.
