To the Editor:
Hats off to Hendricks County Parks and Recreation for the Summer Fun Run Series.
The one-mile and 5K runs that were planned from June 10 though Aug. 12 featured seven parks in North Salem, Brownsburg (2), Avon (2), Danville, and Plainfield.
Not only did my entire (almost) family enjoy most of the runs, Wednesday nights became a regular meeting time for several of our friends in the area.
The Parks and Recreation volunteers were always very helpful, did a great job marking and explaining the running routes, and the free running shirt supplied to people who participated in at least five of the runs is by far the nicest shirt I have ever received from a race.
I’m already looking forward to next summer’s runs, and plan to enjoy these beautiful parks now that I have had a chance to more fully experience them.
Thanks again,
Bill Pfeifer

Age is simply a matter of mind
I was sitting in a restaurant the other day — I won’t say which one, but I will say it was one of those where you get pancakes as a side dish to anything you order, including salads — when I flipped casually to the menu page for, shall we say, mature guests.

Obamacare's disastrous preview
President Barack Obama has an unsettling defense of his health-care reform - it's merely a version of the plan implemented by Massachusetts.

The great Iran charade
The rules of the great Iranian nuclear charade are simple: We pretend to punish the Iranians for the nuclear-weapons program that they pretend doesn't exist.
