— William O. Wernsing of Avon died Saturday at Hendricks Regional Health in Danville. He was 83.
Born July 5, 1929, in Marion County, he was a son of the late Frank and Mary Kubley Wernsing.
Mr. Wernsing was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He worked 25 years at General Motors before retiring in 2000. Previously he had worked for Talon Texron in Indianapolis.
He was a member of the Danville American Legion Post No. 118, Plainfield Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, and UAW Local No. 933.
Survivors include a son, Robert W. Wernsing and wife Kathy of Danville; a daughter, Beth Wernsing of Indianapolis; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Anita Badillo Wernsing, and the mother of his children, Ruth Cope Wernsing.
Services are 7 p.m. Friday at Baker Funeral Home in Danville with the Rev. David Powell officiating.
Calling is for three hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
