Roy L. Steele of New Winchester died Wednesday. He was 78.
Born Feb. 6, 1934, he was a son of the late Hobert and Lola (Ramsey) Steele. He married Nancy A. Hasselburg on Aug. 27, 1966, and she survives.
Mr. Steele graduated from New Winchester High School and attended General Motors Institute for Mechanical Engineering. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Korean War. He worked as a production supervisor at GM Truck and Bus in Indianapolis until his retirement.
He was a member of Whitestone Christian Church.
Additional survivors include sons Kevin L. Steele and wife Suzan of Evansville, Daniel P. Steele and wife DeAnna of Brownsburg, and Randolph L. Steele and wife Amanda of Mt. Vernon, Ill.; grandchildren Benjamin, Aaron, Nathan, Katelyn, Cameron, and Grant, and one grandchild on the way; and sisters Martha Smith of Indianapolis and Marilyn Branson of Dallas, Texas.
Preceding him in death were a grandson, Matthew; brothers Marvin, Melvin, and Donald; and sisters Mildred Pulliam and Margaret Kehrt.
Services are 11 a.m. July 25 at Whitestone Christian Church, six miles west of Danville on U.S. 36. Interment will be at New Winchester Cemetery.
Calling is from 5 to 8 p.m. July 24, also at the church.
