Fern L. Volpp Bowers

Fern L. Volpp Bowers died Sunday at the age of 95.

Born Jan. 30, 1915, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Mamie (Schoch) Volpp. She married Glendon D. Bowers in 1942 and he died in ‘94.

Mrs. Bowers was a homemaker and had worked 25 years as a cashier at Hardee’s restaurant in Danville before retiring in 1994.

She was a member of Bartlett Chapel United Methodist Church in Avon and the Southport Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors include children Bruce Bowers of Crawfordsville, Dennis Bowers of Jackson, Mo., and Marilyn Bowers of Danville; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at Bartlett Chapel with a graveside service at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Bartlett Chapel.
