John Raymond Burgin died Aug. 20. He was 57.
Born May 9, 1953, he was the son of Edward W. and Dorothy Jane Burgin. His mother survives and his father preceded him in death in 1977. Mr. Burgin was raised in Brownsburg.
He was the Brownsburg High School valedictorian in 1971. He attended Purdue University, graduating in 1975 with a bachelor of science degree in industrial engineering with highest distinction.
Mr. Burgin also attended Arizona State University working on his masters of business administration. He was employed by Honeywell in Phoenix. Mr. Burin worked on their space programs, the most notable being the International Space Station. He received many awards and recognition during his years with the company.
Mr. Burgin was an avid sports fan and loved to organize social events with his friends.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a sister, LuAnn (Terry) Sanders of Brownsburg; and nephews, Chad M. Gregory of Columbus and Wesley E. Sanders of Brownsburg.
His family will host an open house to celebrate his life from 1 to 5 p.m. Sept. 19 at West Chase Golf Club, 4 Hollaway Boulevard in Brownsburg. There will also be another celebration with his friends and co-workers Oct. 9 in Phoenix.
