Charles Estle Poole of Plainfield died Wednesday, just 16 days before his 100th birthday.
Born Sept. 28, 1912, in Peoria, Ill., he was a son of the late Riley and Myrtle (Poynter) Poole. He married Nellie P. Blanton on Feb. 24, 1940, in Somerset, Ky., and she died in 2000.
Mr. Poole worked as a welder for Chrysler Foundry until retiring in 1977.
He was a charter member of Bridgeport Central Baptist Church and Bridgeport Masonic Lodge No. 162.
Survivors include sons Hollis M., Dwight R., Norman G., Michael K., and Rodney P. Poole; sisters Zella Frazier and Clarice West; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home. Interment will be at Spring Hill Cemetery in Cartersburg.
Calling at the funeral home is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday.
