— Earl L. Cooksey of Plainfield died Wednesday at IU Health and Hospice House in Bloomington. He was 88.

Born Aug. 18, 1924, in Owen County, he was a son of the late Elza and Rosa (Keller) Cooksey.

Mr. Cooksey served in the U.S. Army. He worked as a truck driver until his retirement from Pie Trucking and was a member of the Teamsters Union.

He enjoyed boating, water skiing, and spending time with his nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Ruth (Ranard) Cooksey of Plainfield; step-grandsons Keith (Christina) Coffey of Ellettsville, Scott (Vickie) Coffey of Martinsville, and Doug Coffey of Bloomington; a sister, Irene Jackson of Alexandria; five great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death was a stepson, Ed Coffey, and 11 siblings.

Graveside services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Riverside Cemetery. Military rites will be performed by the Spencer American Legion and VFW.

West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
