Betty Lou (Butler) Holdcroft

Betty Lou (Butler) Holdcroft died Wednesday at Heartland of Waterville, where she was a resident. She was 93.

Prior to moving to this area to be with family, she had resided in Ormond Beach, Fla., Pinehurst, N.C., and Plainfield.

Mrs. Holdcroft attended Franklin College and, while there, became affiliated with the Pi Beta Phi fraternity, a relationship she maintained for life. She became a Golden Arrow member and served as an Alumni Province President in Florida.

She served as a volunteer in several hospital auxiliaries and for the American Red Cross. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Psi Iota Xi sorority.

She enjoyed playing bridge, sewing, knitting, and other craftwork.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Kirk and Barb Holdcroft; a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Al Gorman; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Alice Butler and David Girard; six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband of 68 years, Bob Holdcroft, and a sister, Jean (Butler) Sanders.

Private services are planned.

Arrangements are being handled by Peinert Funeral Home in Whitehouse, Ohio.

Memorials may be made to Heartland Home Health and Hospice, the Pi Beta Phi Foundation, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
