Lola Irene Chamness of Plainfield died Nov. 25. She was 93.
Born Feb. 20, 1916, in Jackson County, she was the daughter of John and Lula Starns. She married William E. Chamness Feb. 7, 1935. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Chamness enjoyed singing, sewing, gardening, and traveling. She graduated from Ben Davis High school in 1934. She played on the girls basketball team. She attended Bible Study Fellowship for many years and was a member of Faith Baptist Church of Avon. She was also a member of the Alpha Beta Gamma Sorority.
Survivors include a daughter, Loita A. (Tom) Hession of Shelbyville; a son, William B. (Katie) Chamness of Martinsville; granddaughters, Jennie Hession of Bloomington, Ann Hession Alexander of Carmel, Maria Chamness Clifton of Charlestown; grandsons, Richard Kauffman of Carver, Minn., and David Kauffman of Avon; and great grandchildren, Madeline and Bridget Alexander and Ethan Clifton.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Lottie Starnes Thompson, and a brother, Lloyd Henry Starnes.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Nov. 28 at Hall Baker Funeral Home in Plainfield. Interment will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery in Cartersburg.
Calling will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the services.
