Shirley Joanne Nelson of Plainfield died July 15 in Avon. She was 77.
Born Dec. 27, 1934, in Rockford, Ill., she was a daughter of John and Irene Allen.
Mrs. Nelson was a graduate of Rockford East High School, in 1952, and Ivy Tech in Columbus, Ind., as a licensed practical nurse. She worked at Atterbury Job Corps for five years, retiring in 1990.
Survivors include two sisters, Carolyn Allen of Rockford and Judith (Allen) Hamilton of Janesville, Wis.; a daughter, Jerelyn Stanley of Hungary; sons Mark (Pam) Nelson of Nineveh, Ind., Jamie (Lori)
Nelson of Indio, Calif., and Scott (Nancy) Nelson of Everett, Wash.; and longtime companion Gregory T. MacNabb.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Nelson; a nephew, Dean Nelson; and a son, Bruce Nelson.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
