John Thomas “Tom” Delashmit of Camby died Thursday. He was 80.
Born Sept. 24, 1931, in Danville, Ill., he was a son of the late Samuel and Lucille (Smith) Delashmit. He married Betty Jane (Rybolt) Delashmit on Dec. 24, 1950.
Mr. Delashmit lived most of his life in Camby with the exception of two years in Danville, Ill. He was a 1950 graduate of Plainfield High School. He worked 30 years s a carpenter for Carpenter’s Union Local No. 60 before retiring in 1997.
He was a member of Chapel Rock Christian Church in Indianapolis. He enjoyed traveling, camping, square dancing, and working on puzzles.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Jane Delashmit; children Andy (Sharon) Delashmit of California, Alan (Ilene) Delashmit of New York, and Sandy (Hilary) Michel of Tennessee; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; a sister, Diane Neff of North Salem; and a previous daughter-in-law, Jeanine Delashmit of Indianapolis.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Samuel and Lucille (Smith) Delashmit; a sister, Lois; and a brother, Bill.
Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at Jones Family Mortuary with Fred Rodkey officiating. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in North Salem.
Calling at the mortuary is from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday.
