Freda M. Norman

Freda M. Norman died Jan. 22 at Sable Palms Rehabilitation Center in Largo, Fla. She was 90 and had currently resided in Indian Rocks Beach, Fla., and formerly resided in Danville.

Born Oct. 19, 1922, in Indianapolis, she was a daughter of the late William Isaac and Alma Fern Scott Dale. She married Harry E. Norman on May 11, 1941, in Clermont. He died in 2005.

She graduated from Lizton High School in 1940. She started as a volunteer at Opportunity Cottage, now known as Sycamore Services Inc. in Danville, then became a teacher’s aide, a co-director, and finally director of the program.

Mrs. Norman was a member of New Brunswick Church of Christ in Lebanon where she taught Sunday school and volunteered at Vacation Bible School for many years. She was also a member of the Hendricks County Home Economics Club and the Hendricks County Hospital Guild.

Her fondest memories were living and helping on the farm in Danville. She enjoyed gardening and canning.

Survivors include sons Larry L. Norman of Danville and Randy L. Norman of Greenwood; daughters Lana L. Bracewell of Indian Rocks Beach, Fla., and Kathy J. Owens of Danville; grandchildren Kevin, Adam, and Laura Norman, Gretchen Owens Rexroat, Abigail Owens, Amy Wenditz, and Lorna Bracewell; great-grandchildren Kimberlin, Jenna, Tessa, Jackson, Elijah, Deacon, and Bodie Norman, and Leah and Levi Rexroat; and a sister, Juanita Carney of Eminence.

Preceding her in death was a brother, Paul Dale.

Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Baker Funeral Home, 387 E. Broadway St., Danville, with the Rev. Jim Coyle officiating. Entombment will be at Lincoln Memory Gardens in Whitestown.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
