Betty June (Cooke) Northern died July 1, following a 13-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
An Indianapolis resident for most of her life, she graduated from Washington High School and attended Indianapolis Business College. She married Harry Northern on March 10, 1946, and they spent 18 of their 63 years of marriage residing in Danville.
Mrs. Northern was a volunteer naturalist at Eagle Creek Park.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by children Dr. Tina Northern of Honolulu, Hawaii, Pamela K. Cole and husband Daniel of Avon, Terry L. Northern and wife Judy of Pittsboro, and Jenny L. Northern and Mark Suydam of Bay Village, Ohio; grandchildren Jenny L. Johnson and husband Stephen of Ball Ground, Ga., and Josiah L. Northern of Englewood, Colo.; a step-granddaughter, Stacey C. Kolthammer and husband Jeff of Cleveland Heights, Ohio; a great-grandson, Julian A. Kolthammer; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Clarence and Carrie Cooke, and brothers Robert and William.
Services are 1 p.m. Monday at Matthews Mortuary in Brownsburg. Entombment will be at Floral Park Cemetery.
Calling at the mortuary is from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday and for an hour prior to services.
