Amanda Catherine Lehman of Evansville died June 30 at Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville. She was 87.
Born July 4, 1921, in Hendricks County, she was the youngest of eight children.
She graduated from Central Normal Teachers College in Danville and was a teacher for the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation. She had also worked as a greeter for Kmart and Steak ‘n Shake.
She was a member of West Side Christian Church, where she was a former Sunday School teacher and a member of the choir, She also belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star-Isis Temple and the National Education Association of Retired Teachers of Indiana.
Survivors include sons and a daughter-in-law, Roger and Vicki Lehman and Steven Lehman; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Wally Bauer; a sister-in-law, Louise Mills; grandchildren Andy Needles and wife Kristi, Amanda Gifford and husband Heath, Mike Needles and wife Jen, Matt Lehman and wife Courtney, and Sarah Lehman; great-grandchildren Nicole, Noah, Katie, Abby, and Josh Needles, and Ruby Catherine Gifford; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband, the Rev. Roger W. Lehman, and brothers and sisters.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at West Side Christian Church with the Revs. Steve Fuchs and Terry Gamblin officiating. Graveside services are 2 p.m. Monday at Brownsburg Cemetery.
Calling is from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Alexander West Chapel, 1200 W. Illinois St., Evansville, and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the church.
