Marshall Marvin Harshey


— Marshall Marvin Harshey of Avon died Thursday. He was 88.

Born in 1923 in Monroe County, he was a son of the late Chester Field and Tulie (Platt) Harshey. He married Yvonne Spivey in 1946, and she survives.

Mr. Harshey served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II with distinction, flying 254 combat missions in China, India, and Burma.

He was a founding member and elder at Eagle Valley Church of Christ.

Additional survivors include family Deborah Evans and Dennis Bell of Portland, Ore., Frank and Billie Harshey of Avon, and Curtis and Mary Harshey of Browns Summit, N.C.; and four grandchildren.

Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Eagle Valley Church of Christ.

Calling at the church is for two hours prior to the service.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
