Howard A. Highhouse


— Howard A. Highhouse died Sunday at his Danville home. He was 93.

Born Nov. 30, 1918, in Erie, Pa., he was a son of the late John and Margaret Kreider Highhouse. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gretchen Rohde Highhouse.

Mr. Highhouse was inducted into the U.S. Army in 1944 and spent his military service as a medic in the Pacific during World War II, serving with the 133rd General Hospital. He worked for General Electric in Erie, Pa., for 40 years where he attended GE night school and ended his career there as manager of shop operations in Building 6. He retired in 1980 and moved with his wife to Ruskin, Fla., where he enjoyed 18 years.

The Highhouses then moved to Illinois to be closer to family and most recently, Howard moved to Indiana with his daughter.

Survivors include his children, Marnie (Sheldon) Logan, John (Carol) Highhouse, Thede Highhouse, Thomas (Carol) Highhouse, and Terry Highhouse Bissell; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at White Lick Presbyterian Church in Avon.
