— Raymond L. Hays of Plainfield died Jan. 20 at the age of 92.
He was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater. He worked 43 years as a pipefitter for General Motors Allison Division before retiring in 1982.
Mr. Hays was a member of Center Community Church, U.A.W., and the American Legion.
Survivors include daughters Linda Lee and Beverly (Michael) Lenz; sons, Norman (Charlene), Nolan (Robin), Nathan (Sherree), and Neal Hays; a brother, Paul (Vivian) Hays; grandchildren Kevin Lee, Angela Hays, Erica Hahn, Stephanie Lenz, Nicholas and Jason Hays, and Sarah Hays; and nine great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death was his wife of 60 years, Dorothy Wood Hays, and a granddaughter, Stacey Lenz.
Services are 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Conkle Funeral Home Avon Chapel. Interment will be at Shiloh Cemetery in Avon.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
