Luella May Starbuck

Luella May Starbuck of Avon died Saturday. She was 100.

Born Nov. 4, 1912, in Greeup, Ill., she was a daughter of the late Edwin Clyde Dunn and Blanche Burnett Dunn. She was the second of their three children, including Emil and Josephine. On Feb. 2, 1935, she married William Robert Starbuck in Mattoon, Ill., and he died April 16, 1982.

The Starbucks moved to Brownsburg in 1950, where they raised children. The couple owned Starbuck Dry Cleaners on East Main Street in Brownsburg during the 1950s and were prominent residents of town until her retirement to Florida.

Mrs. Starbuck played the organ for Brownsburg Christian Church from 1960 to ‘90. Family and friends celebrated her 100th birthday on Oct. 27.

Survivors include her children, James Robert (Marti) Starbuck of Estero, Fla., and Linda Jane (Brad) Glass of Indianapolis; five grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.

Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Matthews Mortuary in Brownsburg. Interment will follow at Brownsburg Cemetery.

Calling at the mortuary is for two hours prior to the service.
