Kathleen Clare O’Mara McMahon died Sunday at her Avon home. She was 82 and had formerly resided in Terre Haute.
Born Sept. 20, 1929, in Chicago, she was a daughter of Kevin Patrick O’Mara and Marianne Heydon O’Mara, both of whom immigrated from Ireland in the early 1900s. She married Bernard Joseph McMahon in 1953 and they settled in Terre Haute in 1961. He died in 2008.
Mrs. McMahon was an active volunteer for Union Hospital, the Visiting Nurse Association, and through Meals-on-Wheels outreach to the elderly. For many years, she served as recording secretary of the Terre Haute Turf Club.
Survivors include a daughter, Kathleen Chinn and husband Mark of Medford, N.J.; sons Kevin McMahon and wife Jennifer of Grosse Pointe Park, Mich., and Vincent McMahon and wife Maryanne of Avon; and grandchildren Ryan Chinn and wife Jessica of Voorhees, N.J., Christopher and Connor Chinn of Medford, Madeline, Peter, Margaret and Matthew McMahon of Grosse Pointe Park, and Kateland and Keegan McMahon of Avon.
Preceding her in death was a sister, Elizabeth Jane Marshalek.
Mass of the Resurrection will be 12:05 p.m. Monday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 119 S. Ninth St., Terre Haute, with the Rev. Philip T. Bowers and the Rev. Edmund Goldbach, OFM Conv., presiding. Graveside services will be at Calvary Cemetery.
A wake will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the church, with a rosary to be recited at 5:30 p.m.
