Garford K. “Captain Gar” Whicker Jr. age 69 of Burkesville, Ky., died Friday at the Bowling Green Medical Center. He was 69 and had formerly resided in Plainfield.
Born July 29, 1943, in Buffalo, N.Y., he was a son of the late Garford K. Sr. and Carrie West Whicker. He married Brenda Miller in 1992 and she survives.
Mr. Whicker was a 1967 graduate of Butler University, receiving a pharmacist degree. He and his wife were owners of Traces on the Cumberland in Burkesville, Ky.
He was a member of Plainfield United Methodist Church.
Additional survivors include his children, Brad Whicker and his wife Renee, and Lisa Whicker and husband Steve; step children Greg, Ricky Dean, and Monica Morin; and 12 grandchildren.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Hall-Baker Funeral Home in Plainfield with the Rev. Ted Blosser officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Plainfield.
Calling at the funeral home is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
