Judianne Mettler of Avon died early Sept. 27 at IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She was 67 and had formerly resided in Huntington.
Born April 29, 1945, in Huntington, she was a daughter of John E. and Helen Jane (Showalter) Maples Byrd. She married Patrick J. Mettler on April 30, 1966, and he survives.
Mrs. Mettler graduated from Huntington Catholic High School in 1963 and International Business College in ‘64. She retired from Mettler Agency Inc. as treasurer of the corporation.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Huntington and St. Susanna Catholic Church in Plainfield. She was also a member of the Rosary Sodality at St. Mary Catholic Church.
She served on the boards of the Huntington YMCA, Huntington Memorial Hospital Foundation, and the Huntington Public Library. She served as past president of Tri Kappa sorority and past president of the Tri Kappa Associates chapter where she held membership.
Additional survivors include her mother, Helen Jane Byrd of Huntington; a son, John (Lyn) Mettler of Zionsville; a daughter, Emily (Aaron) Stephens of Avon; a brother, John R. (Mary) Maples of Indianapolis; and grandchildren Grace and Rebecca Stephens, and Patrick and Max Mettler.
Mass of Christian Burial was Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church, 903 North Jefferson St., Huntington with Father John Pfister and Deacon John Barelli as celebrants. Interment was at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Huntington.
Calling was Sunday at McElhaney Hart Funeral Home in Huntington.
