Tommie Harrison Day died Wednesday at her Mooresville home. She was 89.

Born Sept. 23, 1923, in Barren County, Ky., she was a daughter of the late Corbett and Corinne (Snoddy) Thomas.

She graduated from Park City High School and Western Kentucky College. She taught school for a number of years in a one-room school house in Kentucky prior to moving to Indiana. Mrs. Day retired from Theising Veneer at the age of 65, but was quickly called back to work and didn't retire a second time until age 82.

She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Avon and attended Eternal Life Baptist Church in Mooresville.

Mrs. Day enjoyed reading, cooking, and baking.

Survivors include her husband, David R. "Romain" Day; children Hubert Daine Harrison of Kentucky, John Harrison of Indianapolis, Fay Harrison of Mooresville, Patricia Scott of Plainfield, and Marshall Harrison of Camby; step-children Pam Zahn of Colorado, Doug Day of Arizona, Terry Day of Terre Haute, Susan Harrison of Camby, Rita Silcox of Greenwood, Kevin Day of Mooresville, Danny Day of Indianapolis, and Alva Day of Greenwood; brothers Kenneth Thomas of Kentucky, Lester Thomas of Kentucky, and Jack Thomas of Greenwood; 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her first husband, Hubert Harrison; a brother and sister-in-law, Calvin and Geraldine Thomas; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Eternal Life Baptist church, 8554 E. Hendricks County Road, Mooresville, with the Rev. Don Endsley officiating. Interment will be at West Union Cemetery.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, 39 E. High St., Mooresville.
