Bernard D. Vogel of Plainfield died July 4 at Plainfield Health Care Center. He was 88.
Born Oct. 7, 1923, in Indianapolis, he was a son of the late Elmer and Alma (Hasse) Vogel.
Mr. Vogel graduated from Southport High School and attended Indiana University. He was the owner of Vogel and Son Builders and Vogel Realty in Plainfield for many years. He also taught at the J. Everett Light Career Center in Indianapolis.
A charter member of St. Susanna Catholic Church, Mr. Vogel was an active participant in the Men’s Club there. He also coached Little League baseball in Plainfield as his children were growing up. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed wintering in Bradenton, Fla.
Survivors include a son, Daniel G. Vogel of Indianapolis; daughters Sherry Karge of Greenfield, Denise Vogel-Summers of Heritage Lake, Monica Clifft of Plainfield, and Michele Lucas of Plainfield; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were a son, Terry Allen Vogel; a brother, Jimmy Vogel; and a sister, Vivian Jones.
Services were Monday at Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville with Father Harold Rightor officiating.
