Willie Hugh McBride of Clayton died Monday. He was 85.
Born Oct. 7, 1926, in Hilham, Tenn., he was a son of the late Herman and Drue (Rich) McBride.
In 1948, Mr. McBride moved his family to Indianapolis. He worked more than 30 years for Stark & Wetzel, later known as Rath Packing. He worked almost another 20 years at Cloverleaf Apartments and Suncrest Apartments in Indianapolis.
Mr. McBride enjoyed gardening, fishing, and hunting.
Throughout the years he attended several churches with the last one being Life Temple Church of Clayton. During the past 40 years he served as Sunday School Superintendent and on the board.
Survivors include daughters Betty (Leonard) Frederick, and Carolyn (Charles) Gilmer; grandchildren Robert, Richard, Carrie, Randy, Ryan, and Bobbie; seven step grandchildren; great-grandchildren Jordan, Jeremy, Seth, and Summer; 15 step great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter, Ava Marie; and brothers Landon, Roy, Joe, and Bennie.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Addie L. McBride; sons Bobbie and James W. McBride; two brothers and three sisters.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home in Plainfield. Interment will be at Clayton Cemetery.
Calling at the funeral home is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
