Trampoline park opens Plainfield site

PLAINFIELD — Sky Zone Indoor Trampoline Park is the site of Indy’s latest entertainment and fitness craze. The new 21,000-square-foot facility allows jumpers of all ages to leap to new heights while having fun playing 3D Dodgeball, jumping into a giant foam pit, participating in a SkyRobics class, or simply bouncing around in the open jump area.

Sky Zone is Indy’s only patented all-trampoline, walled facility. The newest facility is at 851 S. Columbia Road, Plainfield, near the intersection of Ronald Reagan Parkway and Stafford Road.

The $1.1 million project is headed by franchise owner Jeff Mast, who also owns and operates a Sky Zone franchise in Louisville, Ky.

“We are excited to open the second Indianapolis location,” Mast said in a press release. “The response to the Fishers locations was so incredible that we wanted to provide families in other Indianapolis communities with the chance to enjoy the concept. Regardless of your athletic skill level, this is a chance to come out with friends and family and experience the thrill first-hand.”

Based in Los Angeles, Calif., Sky Zone Franchise Group, LLC created and built the world’s first all-trampoline, walled playing court — a concept so unique it was awarded a United States Patent No. 5,624,122. Founded in 2004, Sky Zone, LLC operates three affiliate-owned indoor trampoline parks across the United States and currently has 30 franchise locations open with more than 64 slated to be open over the upcoming months. The company has awarded franchises in 23 states and Canada.

Featuring a capacity of 95 jumpers per hour, the Plainfield Sky Zone offers nearly 12,000-square-feet of walled trampoline surfaces. Those include five courts — two 3D Dodgeball courts, The Foam Zone, Sky Slam, and Open Jump. Expect the Dodgeball courts to be filled with people of all ages enjoying a pickup game, leagues, and even tournaments. The Foam Zone is a hit with children and adults alike who enjoy flipping into a giant pit of foam blocks. Sky Slam allows jumpers to try their dunking skills at two rim heights, and the Open Jump area is the largest of the five playing fields and allows everyone a chance to try out their best freestyle moves.

For younger jumpers under age 5, Sky Zone opens for Toddler Time between 11 a.m. and noon on Fridays. This allows younger children to have fun in the park with other jumpers their age and parents can take comfort knowing the jumpers are similar in size.

Fitness classes at Sky Zone are truly unique. The playing fields add variety to an ordinary cardio workout, making classes like SkyRobics a new favorite for many. The workout is invigorating and fun for all fitness levels and highly effective with an estimated 1,000 calories burned per-hour.

Sky Zone is a unique combination of active family fun, fitness, and recreation appealing to a range of demographics. Offering two private party rooms, the facility is ideal for birthday parties, youth groups, school outings, fraternity and sorority events, corporate events, charity events, and any other functions where fun is a priority.

“We’re looking forward to continuing to work with local schools, churches, and other organizations in building strong relationships within the Indianapolis community,” Mast said.

Safety is the top priority at Sky Zone — “Have Fun, Fly Safe” is our motto. Similar to a lifeguard, a trained court monitor is stationed on each court to oversee the safety of all guests and help facilitate jumpers’ fun. Although visitors are allowed to move freely about the courts, for safety purposes only one jumper at a time is allowed in each trampoline square. All courts are walled with trampolines to ensure safety and add to the fun, as well.

“We designed the park with affordable family fun in mind,” Mast said. “We know it’s all about the customer experience — and it’s our mission to provide and promote fun, dynamic, and health-minded programs that can be safely enjoyed by people of all ages.”

General admission price includes shoe rental and sales tax: 30-minute jump, $9; 60-minute jump, $13; 90-minute jump, $17; and 120-minute jump, $20.

Birthday party packages and events are priced separately.

The facility is open from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, noon to 9 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.
