PLAINFIELD — A Monrovia man was struck at the intersection of Reeves Road and State Road 267 in Plainfield at about 6:30 a.m. Jan. 28.
“The driver was traveling northbound on (S.R.) 267 and was getting into the turn lane to turn onto Reeves Road when he struck a pedestrian walking northbound,” said Capt. Jill Lees of the Plainfield Police Department.
The driver, Donald Rhoades, 48, of Indianapolis, was on his way to work.
The pedestrian, George Shannon, 44, was walking from the BP station to Walmart.
“He thought he was on the shoulder of the road, but he was actually walking in the middle of the turn lane,” Lees said.
Shannon was taken to Wishard Hospital in Indianapolis. He is in stable condition but has sustained multiple injuries.
“He was wearing dark clothing and didn’t have any type of reflective clothing on,” Lees said. “There have no charges filed. The driver was released after the incident. The call was initiated at 6:32 a.m. We know it was really dark and there was heavy rain.”
