HCT sets auditions for 'The Little Mermaid Junior'

Hendricks Civic Theatre invites boys and girls (school age kindergarten through high school senior) to audition for the youth musical "The Little Mermaid Junior."

Auditions are 5 to 9 p.m. Jan. 4 or 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Jan. 5 at the Saint Malachy Catholic Church auditorium, 326 N. Green St., Brownsburg. Those auditioning must be available upon the director's request for callbacks from 3 to 6 p.m. Jan. 6.

Auditions are by online sign-ups; no open auditions. Directors will take three singers every 20 minutes. Visit the HCT website (www.hendrickscivic.com) to connect to online sign-ups. Click on the "Auditions" tab to find links to online audition sign-ups and form. Print the audition form from the website and bring a completed copy to the audition. Include any schedule conflicts. Those auditioning should bring piano music to sing 1 verse and 1 refrain. No songs from "The Little Mermaid Junior" show or recorded music, please. A piano accompanist will be provided. No previous theater or music experience required.

Actors must be available to perform in all six shows, Feb. 22 to 24 and March 1 to 3 in the Saint Malachy Catholic Church auditorium. The two performance weekends include Friday and Saturday evening shows at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday shows at 3 p.m. Rehearsals begin Jan. 9. Most rehearsals will be conducted 6 to 8 p.m. Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Disney's "The Little Mermaid Junior" is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International. The show's production staff includes Bob Jessen, director; Dr. Mike Acquaviva, music director; and Julie Kays, assistant director.
