DANVILLE — Three films stood out above the rest, winning awards in the second annual Hendricks County Film Festival earlier this month.
Of the nine non-student films eligible for awards, the winners included:
- Grand Jury Award and Audience Award for Comedy/Musical - "Imagine If" by Drew Varvel.
- Audience Award for Drama - "March April" by Collin Souter.
- Audience Award for Documentary - "PUSH Tunisia" by Nathan Gray.
The Film Festival of Hendricks County showcased more than four hours of films from both local and national filmmakers over three days at the historic Royal Theater in Danville. To be categorized as a short film, each entry could be no longer than 40 minutes. About 100 people attended the festival as the films, including the student entries, were broken into three 90-minute sittings throughout the three-day event.
"It was great to give these filmmakers an opportunity to share their work with audiences on the big screen," said Loren Malloy, co-founder of the event. "We're already looking forward to next year's film festival."
