Haunts, hikes, and happenings headline county's fall offerings

The Hendricks County Convention and Visitors Bureau recently unveiled a fall promotion to showcase all of its autumn attractions and activities.

The "TourHendricksCounty.com Haunts, Hikes and Happenings" promotion will provide numerous tips and tales and even provide some contest giveaways to entice visitors within a 100-mile radius to travel to Hendricks County to experience fall fun.

"This time of year has become one of our more popular seasons with attractions like Beasley's Orchard, events at places like McCloud Nature Park including their annual prairie maze or simply checking out their beautiful fall foliage, and local folklore like the haunted Twin Bridges," said Sarah McMillen, tourism marketing manager for the HCCVB. "We wanted an opportunity to spotlight that and more. We even plan to highlight our growing arts and culture district through a contest we will host on our blog every Tuesday throughout the campaign."

That arts and culture component, called Crafty Tuesdays, is now on the All Access Hendricks County blog at www.TourHendricksCounty.com/Blog and will feature a new, interactive fall craft idea weekly. An All Access Hendricks County blogger will write about the craft and describe to readers how to create their own, sometimes with the help of a discount to pick up the supplies.

Readers will have a week to complete their project and post a picture of it on the HCCVB's Facebook page that they will share by linking the picture within the comment section of the blog post. Each submitted picture enters them into a weekly drawing to win a gift certificate to the featured business. Some of the crafts include a felted pumpkin at Nomad Yarns, a pumpkin planter at Frazee Gardens, and a fall children's craft at Sally Suiter Ceramics.

In addition to the blog, the campaign will utilize the HCCVB's social media channels, such as Facebook, Pinterest, and Twitter, as writers share stories about the haunts, hikes, and happenings in Hendricks County through Oct. 23.

For more information about the fall promotion, go online to www.TourHendricksCounty.com and look for the Haunts, Hikes and Happenings logo.
