School board president resigns

BROWNSBURG — Citing “personal reasons,” Brownsburg School Board president David Ayers has resigned from his seat on the board.

Ayers’ tenure began in July 2006 and he was re-elected for another four-year term in ‘10. He has served in several board-appointed positions during his years on the board.

Mike Runyon, board vice president, will serve as acting president until the board appoints a new president at its April board meeting.

During his tenure, Ayers has seen the BCSC through significant growth, challenging economic times, and the hiring of Superintendent Dr. Jim Snapp.

“We greatly appreciate David Ayers’ unselfish efforts on behalf of the children in Brownsburg Schools,” Snapp said in a press release. “His commitment to making decisions in the best interest of our students has never wavered and his presence on the board will be missed.”

The BCSC will immediately begin accepting applications to fill the vacant position. Applicants must be residents of Lincoln Township, Hendricks County, and be at least 18 by the time of the appointment.

Application materials may be found on the corporation’s website at www.brownsburg.k12.in.us and are due by March 14.
