PLAINFIELD — In its third year on the Indy Wine Trail, Chateau Thomas Winery has noticed increased success.
“We have sold about 250 tickets, I think,” said Sheila Kavanaugh, general manager of the winery here. “Each trail gets better. All of the seven Indy Wine Trail wineries participate.”
The Indy Wine Trail allows people to visit seven award-winning wineries throughout central Indiana.
Along with the customers, the wineries also have several opportunities.
“It’s an opportunity to showcase your product,” Kavanaugh said. “It’s an opportunity for people who have never seen the winery to see it.”
Each of the wineries have something different to offer individually.
“For us specifically, because we have a banquet facility, it allows us to showcase the great work that our chef does,” Kavanaugh said. “(Saturday) we are featuring ‘buffalo chili.’ That’s pretty popular.”
Throughout the year, the wineries do four events — a Valentine Trail, a Barbecue Trail in July, a Chili Trail, and a Christmas Trail.
The six other wineries on the Indy Wine Trail are Buck Creek Winery and Easley Winery in Indianapolis, Ferrins Fruit Winery and Grape Inspirations Winery in Carmel, Mallow Run Winery in Bargersville, and Simmons Winery in Columbus.
At the end of October, the winery will host a murder mystery. Additional upcoming activities include a turkey tasting event on Nov. 21 and the Spirit of the Season Jennie DeVoe concert on Nov. 28. The winery will also have a New Year’s Eve party on Dec. 31.
Chateau Thomas is at 6291 Cambridge Way, Plainfield.
