In conjunction with the 2009 Hendricks County Partnership for Water Quality Spring Clean-up Day, Avon will be holding a heavy trash drop off site from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 18 and May 2 at the Avon Town Hall.
Avon Special Projects Coordinator Erin Mulryan says there will be dumpsters for metal and non-metal trash. The service is for Avon residents only and identification will be required.
It will be an opportunity for residents to dispose of items like upholstered furniture, outdoor and patio furniture, desks, TV stands, bookcases, scrap metal, old toys and playground equipment, old exercise equipment, mattresses and box springs, and old carpeting or rugs.
Items that will not be accepted include hazardous materials, cars, household hazardous waste, construction materials and debris, appliances that use Freon, tires, yard waste, used motor oil, or bagged trash. In addition, the service will not handle electronics such as televisions, VCRs, stereos, or computers. Those items can be disposed at Tox Away Days, which are scheduled for June 6 at Danville Community High School, Aug. 15 at Hickory Elementary School in Avon, and Oct. 10 at Plainfield Middle School.
Yard waste drop-off sites are in Brownsburg, Danville, and Plainfield.
