Police on Tuesday identified the driver who was killed after crashing his car into Eagle Creek Reservoir as Reginald Ray, 60, of Indianapolis.
The driver’s identity was not released at the time of the accident on Monday to allow police time to notify family members in Chicago.
At about 8 a.m. Monday, Ray’s vehicle slid off of 56th Street due to icy road conditions, landing in the reservoir. Divers were called to the scene and found Ray about 20 minutes after the accident.
A crane was able to lift Ray’s vehicle out of the reservoir a few hours later.
Police say the investigation of the crash ongoing.
